founder's journey:

The Story Behind Kara Solutions

At the end of 2018, I found myself at a crossroads. After being laid off from my corporate job due to restructuring, I decided to shift my focus to my seminary studies. Little did I know, 2019 would bring even more challenges. I lost my home, my 13-year marriage ended, and I spent much of that year battling depression. Despite these personal struggles, I continued to work in ministry and stay active in my community.

By the end of 2019, my unemployment benefits had run out, and by January 2020, I no longer had health insurance. I searched for work but nothing materialized, and when the pandemic hit in March 2020, the shutdown meant my chances of finding a job disappeared completely. I remember asking out loud, “God, what will I do now?” And in that moment, I received the answer—clear as day: Use your skill set, stupid!

That moment sparked the beginning of Kara Solutions. I applied my years of experience in administrative support, media, and design to help others navigate the digital space. It started with getting my home church fully virtual, and soon, other organizations and ministries reached out for training and support. I began livestreaming programs for clients and upleveled my graphic and web design skills to meet the growing demand.

As the world started opening up again, I expanded Kara Solutions to include social media and content management services. What started as a way to survive during a difficult time became a thriving business—though I often call myself the "accidental entrepreneur." I never anticipated starting my own business, especially as someone who struggles with anxiety and ADHD, but Kara Solutions was born out of necessity, passion, and faith.
